We welcome you to the low country,
Daufuskie Island, SC

WELCOME

Hosts

Dear Friends,

We are so excited to welcome you to the SPUS meeting 2022 on “our” island.  No hustle, no bustle. Not even a single bridge. What will you possibly do all day?

It’s not about the championship golf, the luxury homes or even the extraordinary amenities. It's all about the things that are missing. Although, the ones that call Haig Point home would argue there is not a single thing missing... at all. Daufuskie comes from the Muscogee language and means "sharp feather" for the island's distinctive shape. Long before European colonists arrived to the New World, native peoples called Daufuskie Island home as evidenced by artifacts dating back some 9,000 years. Not to mention ancient piles of oyster shells which stand as testament that people have been enjoying the abundance the island has to offer since before time was even really counted.

We are also honored to share with you that the meals and social activities for the 2022 SPUS meeting will be generously paid for by a donation from the family of a patient of Larry Baskin’s and John’s. We ask only that you cover your travel and accommodations.  We remain grateful for the opportunity to care for children with urological conditions every day and so appreciate their generosity to our members.

We hope this website will provide you with the information you need to make your travel arrangements and accommodations. The island has 20 homes reserved for your stay. You may want to group up with friends because the homes have many rooms.  If you have any questions about travel or lodging, we are more than happy to assist.

Sincerely,

Susan, Grace, and John
